The Upper Room is offering an online Advent small group/class that is self-paced. If several of us choose to do it together, we can be place in a group. Is anyone interested in doing this? I thought it might be a good way for the group that began at the conference to continue working together. We could experience the class and also observe how the content is presented. Here is a link to check it out.
Great Questions! Dana Hanlon , I would love to talk with you in person about your questions with our llaptop in front of us. will you be visiting Sam any time soon ?
How do we use material for Faith Formation on-line? How do you get a learning/curriculum "on-line". Do you use the on-line for "purchase on your own and then have a discussion? Limitations exist right now as to how we get educational materials on-line, so what do we offer? What is your platform?
ALSO< And does Faith Formation happen on-line or does it happen as Learning on-line that moves toward faith formation?
Curation: How do we Create paths for seekers to the engaged individuals for growth and transformation for those who are curious to hungry to learn about Jesus Christ.
What resources are truly United Methodist or UM approved as we do not have enough from Cokesbury and our leaders of our church.
As we talk about access, we have many older adults in our church who don't know how to use the tools they already have (smart phones, Kindles, computers, etc). I'm taking an idea that I heard this week - having a time when seniors and youth meet together and the youth show the seniors how to use their tools.
My primary reason for joining the group was to think about how to bridge the gap between home and church providing engaging faith formation opportunities for families to do together. Right now I do a very basic email with extra content for the week that relates to the Sunday morning scripture reading (same in worship and Sunday school).
Large categories of questions:

What is the goal? Outreach? Community? Engaging those who can't be personally present?
What are the ethical considerations around online learning and a desire for privacy?
Questions from Session 1:
Is it possible to affect learning without an evaluation? How do you measure it? What is learning?
